It is said that old age athletes are found more recently. Another equestrian who is known to stay active at a ripe age is Ian Millar. The 74-year-old has unfortunately retired in 2019 after participating in 10 Olympics. Mary Hanna is the second oldest female equestrian in Olympic history after Lorna Johnstone. This year is his sixth opportunity to compete in this prestigious event.

Mary Hanna has been riding horses since she was little, which is a family hobby. His family even uses horses for daily trips. "Like if you don't ride a horse you won't be fed. We ride to do work, that's part of life," said the woman who started competing since getting married.

So even the oldest athlete did not dampen his determination to continue competing. Mary Hanna said she was preparing for the Summer Olympics in Paris in 2024.
